Fatal Collision Near Santa Rosa

A vehicle veered off the on-ramp and hit a tree, CHP reports.

One person was killed when a vehicle crashed into a tree in unincorporated Sonoma County near Santa Rosa Sunday morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The crash was first reported at about 8:45 a.m. on a U.S. Highway 101 on-ramp at Fulton Road, CHP Officer James Evans said.

The driver of a vehicle lost control on the cloverleaf on-ramp and the vehicle left the roadway, crashing into a tree, Evans said. One person in the vehicle was killed, he said.

No other vehicles appeared to have been involved, and it was not immediately clear if more than one person was in the vehicle, Evans said. The on-ramp was closed while the CHP conducted an investigation.
