Firefighters Investigating String of Brush Fires

The latest fire burned an acre in Maxwell park Wednesday afternoon

Fire officials are investigating a series of blazes which have lit up brush in public parks, according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.

The latest fire burned almost an acre in Maxwell Park, just behind the , Wednesday afternoon, before the Sonoma Fire Department, aided by CalFire, put out the blaze.

Officials believe the blaze started just after 3:30pm.

Fire officials have noticed a pattern in the small brush fires which have burned over the summer:

But it was only the most recent in a series of small vegetation fires in the area since late June or July, Sonoma Valley Fire Marshal Alan Jones said. Most have been maybe a quarter acre or less, he said.
