Grass Fire on Highway 121 Claims Up to 20 Acres

Firefighters use water from pond to extinguish flames

A grass fire claimed between 10 and 20 acres of land near Ram’s Gate Winery on Highway 121 on Friday, the Sonoma Index Tribune is reporting.

Personnel from Sonoma Valley, Cal Fire and Schell-Vista fire departments fought the blaze on the ground and from the sky, scooping up water from the Ram’s Gate pond. No injuries were reported.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire. Did you see the fire? Add your pics to the story.

I saw this fire on my way home from San Rafael yesterday, apparently I got through just before the road was closed. There was smoke rising from an area that looked not far from the road. There was also a small fire on Arnold Drive, which I saw just minutes later while on the same drive.
