Owner of Antique Shop in Sonoma Arrested for Fraud, Other Charges
After Front Door Antiques in the Sonoma Marketplace suddenly closed up shop at the end of May, several people contacted the Sonoma Police Department to report they were never paid for their items on consignment, or they were paid with bogus checks.
On Wednesday, Sonoma Police deputies arrested the owner of the Front Door, Dwayne Robert Kershner, 51, at his residence on Paseo Bolivar in Schelville on several charges including fraud, elder abuse, and possession of drugs.
Numerous antique items were discovered at his residence and in two of his storage units. The property is under review by the Sonoma Police Department, pending further investigation into other possible victims.
Kershner was arrested for passing bad checks, fiduciary elder abuse, financial fraud, and, upon his arrest; resisting arrest and possession of methamphetamine. He was booked at the Sonoma County Jail.
If you have information related to this case or if you are potentially a victim of Kershner's fraudulent business practices, please contact Deputy Kelly Burris and/or Detective Tony King at the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office Property Crimes Division at 707-565-2185.
