Friday, Oct. 7

Violation of Probation: At 10:46 p.m. an officer stopped a white Toyota Tacoma after it made an illegal left turn from First Street West onto West Napa Street. The driver, who was on probation, was also driving on a suspended license. He was issued a citation for violating probation and driving on a suspended license.

Saturday, Oct. 8

Burglary: Sometime between 6:45 p.m. on Oct. 7 and 10:18 a.m. on Oct. 8 someone broke into a computer store on the 100 block of First Street West, by breaking off a gutter and using it to hoist through a second story window using a crow bar. Police recovered much of the stolen property abandoned in the bushes outside the store, and a probation search led police to a house where they found a number of stolen items, including a television set stolen last winter from Lokal. $8,280 worth of stolen property was recovered including an Apple Macbook, an Apple iPad 2, an Apple iBook G4, a Mac desktop computer, and a Canon Rebel t1i camera. Police recovered fingerprints from the scene and are pursuing leads to identify the thief.

Monday, Oct. 10

Smoking Under Age: At 12:29 p.m. a 16-year-old girl and 17-year-old boy were cited for smoking underage in front of the on Broadway.

Burglary: A resident of the 1000 block of Manor Drive returned home to find his house ransacked and a white iBook laptop, valued at $2,000, stolen. A front window, left open for ventilation, was forced open to allow access to the residence.

Tuesday, Oct. 11

Burglary: On Monday evening employees at closed up shop around 11 p.m. and set the store alarm. At 12:14 a.m. someone turned off the alarm – which was reactivated again at 12:17 a.m. – and removed $7,289 in cash from a safe in an employees only room. 

Drunk in Public: At 9:11 p.m. an officer responded to an unusual report: a resident was being disturbed by repeated cries of “yee-haw” near Depot Park.  In the Casa Grande lot the officer found a 36-year-old Sonoma resident riding laps on his bicycle, while two friends watched, shouting ‘yee-haw” at regular intervals. The officer moved to arrest the man, who continued riding his cycle until the deputy grabbed his arm and placed him in handcuffs. He was charged with counts of being drunk in public, resisting arrest and violating probation and was booked into Sonoma County Jail.

Wednesday, Oct. 12

DUI: At 6:54 officers were dispatched to Sonoma Valley High School on a report of a road rage incident: one driver was pulling into the parking lot for a cheerleading event, when another man, James Casey, 63, confronted him for driving too fast. Casey took off in his silver ’93 Saab with his 16-year-old son; police located him on Lovell Valley Road at Old Winery Road. Casey had symptoms of intoxication and registered .19 and .18 on two breath tests. He was issued citations for driving under the influence of alcohol and child endangerment and was released to his wife.

Drunk in Public: A deputy was called to the 1300 block of Lubeck St. on reports that a man was hunched at the base of a truck reading the license plate into his cell phone. Officer confronted the 25-year-old man, who was visiting from Phenix City, Alabama, but couldn’t remember which motel he was staying in. The man was booked without charges, released after sobriety.
