Friday, August 12

Attempted burglary:  The owner of Body Karma on the 19300 block of Highway 12 noticed that the air conditioner of his shop had stopped working on July 29.  He reported finding someone had attempted entry through the air conditioner and had removed sheet metal.  Damage was estimated at $1,500.

DUI:  A grey Honda Pilot was reported to be swerving over the limit line on West Spain Street around 8:31 pm.  The police pulled over the vehicle, and the driver, a Sonoma woman traveling with her twin 6-year-olds, showed signs of intoxication, and said she had just had a couple of glasses at a park.  After blowing a .15 at the police station, she was released to her husband.  She is facing separate charges of child endangerment and driving under the influence.

DUI:  A driver on Highway 37 coming from Novato, noticed a silver 2008 Audi A4 crossing over lines and swerving over into the shoulder, almost hitting signs, and called the CHP, who were unable to respond in time.  The Sonoma police were dispatched and were able to pull over the driver at Arnold Drive and Agua Caliente Road.  Britta Christoph, 44, of Boyes Hot Springs showed signs of extreme intoxication.  After doing poorly on the field sobriety tests, she blew a .227.  She was booked into jail.

Saturday, August 13

DUI:  At 10:35 Steven Beam, 60, from Hockessin, Delaware, was pulled over after failing to stop at a stop sign at West Napa and Broadway while driving a rental car.  Beam told officers he had recently come from his son’s wedding reception where he had drank two glasses of champagne and a glass of wine.  After failing field sobriety tests and blowing .13, he was taken to the police station where he blew a .15.  He was released to a relative.

Sunday, August 14

Vandalism:  The owner of Outdoora on the 100 block of West Napa Street noticed damage to his business’ sign.  Damage is estimated between $150 to $200.

Fight in the park:  A fight broke out in Depot Park involving Eulalio Garza and John Heywood, both from Sonoma. Both men were inebriated and on probation to not drink alcohol.  Heywood received a citation for violating his probation, and Garza was booked into after the police noticed he had two outstanding warrants.

Monday, August 15

Petty theft:  A lightspeed aviation headset valued $800 and a company check book with twenty blanks were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle on the 800 block of Second Street East.

Under the influence:  The police were dispatched to where they found Kevin Watson, 27, of El Verano resting in a cot.  He showed signs of being mentally unstable and signs of intoxication including rapid and unintelligible speech, and involuntary muscle spasms.  Watson explain that his brother had come into town and the two had gotten into a scuffle and that the best place to go was the hospital to get rest and food.  After a urine sample administered by a hospital nurse, Watson was found to be under the influence of methamphetamines and booked.

Wednesday, August 17

Burglary:  $200 were reported stolen from a pastor’s desk at the  after someone forced open a French style double door.  Many items of value were overlooked.

Bike theft:  A bike was stolen from the front porch on the 300 block of Chase street.  The black and blue Trek Mountain Bike is estimated at $700.

Drug possession: Police noticed a man riding his bike around 11:30 on First Street West carrying two bike tires.  He was pulled over after riding through a stop sign and for lacking a rear reflector or light.  Kent Knapp, 60, of Sonoma, searched his backpack and found 5.4 grams of methamphetamine.  He was booked for violating probation and for possession of a controlled
