Sheriff Reports Sexual Assault Case in Sonoma

Sexual Assault in Sonoma

On June 19, 2012 at approximately 2312 hours, officers from the Sonoma Police Department  and Deputies from the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office Valley substation responded to the area of Andrieux Street and 1st Street West, Sonoma,  for the report of a sexual assault.  

The 20-year-old victim called 911 to report that an unknown person attacked her while she was on the sidewalk. The victim was able to fend off the assailant.  He ran off in the direction of Andrieux Street from  1st Street West.  She immediately went to a safe location and called law enforcement.  The victim suffered slight physical injury in the commission of the crime.

The suspect was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt pulled over his head, white boxers or shorts with a blue plaid or striped pattern, and white tennis shoes.

An exhaustive search of the area was conducted but the suspect was not located.   Detectives responded to the scene and the investigation is on-going.  Any person with information pertaining to this crime is encouraged to contact the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office Domestic Violence / Sexual Assault Unit at 565-8290.
