Friday, June 10

Not-Quite-DUI: Just after 7 p.m., a patrolling officer stopped a blue Ford Taurus which had a cracked window, at the intersection of First Street West and West MacArthur. Both the driver, 27-year-old James Cloud of El Verano and passenger, Blake Stearkweather, a 35-year-old Sonoma man, were on probation and forbidden to drink alcohol. A breath test placed Cloud at .05 blood-alcohol ratio. Stearkweather at .02. Both were issued citation, charged with one count each of violating probation.

Saturday, June 11

Shoplifting: Just before 8 p.m., employees of __ caught an 18-year-old Boyes Hot Springs resident shoplifting two litre bottles of Bacardi rum. A responding deputy also discovered a bottle of Bombay Sapphire gin in the boy's backpack, which he said had been stolen from another store. The man was charged with being a minor in possession of alcohol, and booked into county jail. The Bacardi rum - worth $60 - and gin were booked at the police department.

Vandalism: At 3:47a.m. police responded to reports of glass breaking at Sassarini Elementary School. Near the school they found Matthew While , 22, carrying a pellet rifle; three windows were broken at the school, with shards that appear to have been created by BB pellets. While, who police say appeared intoxicated, said he "shouldn't have been screwing around with the pellet gun," but he "only fired on fields to the rear of the school."  While was charged with a felony charge of vandalism, possession of a weapon on school grounds and being drunk in public, and booked into county jail.

Tuesday, June 14 

Hand Over the Chocolate: After getting into a fight over chocolate, a 22-year-old Sonoma resident said she punched her brother Dario Carafa, a 20-year-old Sonoman, who ate the last chocolate in the house. He hit back, which caused her to fall towards her 3-year-old daughter, giving her a large red bump on her forehead. She tried to report the incident to police at 7:52 p.m., he grabbed the phone out of her hand. The man was charged with a felony count of child endangerment, violating probation and damaging a communication device, and booked into county jail.

 Wednesday, June 15

Theft: The Center for Healing Arts, located on the 19,000 block of the Sonoma Highway,  reported large benches stolen on either Thursday, May 9 or Friday, May 10. The benches were a teak wood bench with arms, worth $1,000 and a redwood bench, painted green with decorative iron attachments, worth $700. Both benches weighed about 100 lb.
