Smoking Underage: Two 17-year-old students were cited for smoking underage. An officer cited the youths at 12:20pm in the parking lot.

Vandalism Report: The filed a report that a 53-year-old transient, who was a guest of the hotel from Oct 20 – 26, was asked to leave the Inn after he broke two thermometers in the pool area, cut a phone chord and poured Vyna Bond – a highly flammable epoxy – behind the vent in his room. The Inn wanted the incident documented because Vyna Bond can be toxic if consumed or inhaled.

Vandalism: Someone struck the front window of a Toyota Camery, parked at the owner’s home on the 300 block of Vigna Street, with a 6-inch rock – which was part of the home’s driveway landscaping. The thrown rock caused $1,000 to $1,500 worth of damage, and happened between 6 am on Nov. 4 and 9 am on Nov. 5.

Possession of Stolen Property: A staff member at noticed a stack of green stamped passes – used by student for off-campus permission – went missing from her desk. She notified staff to be on alert for the hot passes, and changed the color of the schools passes. A 17-year-old student tried to use one of the stolen passes, and was promptly sent to the office; in his backpack staff found the rest of the passes and chewing tobacco. The Boyes Hot Springs resident was cited to Youth and Family Services on counts of possession of stolen property and possession of tobacco.

Tuesday, Nov. 7

Stolen Mail: A resident of the 200 block of Fine Ave. reported that several outgoing letters, including three bill payments with checks, were stolen from his mailbox between 10:30 and 11:15 am. He put a stop payment on the missing checks.

Petty Theft from a Motor Vehicle: A woman left her blue Chrysler PT Cruiser unlocked at 201 West Napa, while she went into Radio Shack. When the 85-year-old Sonoma resident returned to her car five minutes later, her purse, which contained $165 in cash, a social security card, driver’s license and credit cars were missing.

Petty Theft from a Motor Vehicle: Someone broke into a car parked on the 400 block of Engler and took off with car keys and a wallet, containing cash and credit cards.

Petty Theft from a Motor Vehicle: A resident of Pierce Street left at 7:40am and reported that the automated gate to her house was ajar and someone had rifled through her ’06 burgundy Toyota Sequoia, stealing her garage door remote control and her gate remote control. The resident reported the gate was closed at 6 am. Police helped her reprogram the codes for her garage and gate.  

Wednesday, Nov. 8

Minor in Possession of Marijuana for Sale: A teacher sent a 14-year-old Sonoma Valley High School student to the office after he came into class smelling of weed. In his backpack, staff found 17.2 grams of marijuana, distributed between four plastic bags. The Boyes Hot Springs youth was cited for possession of marijuana for sale and booked into Sonoma County Juvenile Hall.

Warrents: Deputies stopped two cyclists who blew through a stop sign at Highlands and Vallejo without stopping at 11:20 am. Both cyclists had outstanding warrants; a search of one of the cyclists, James Moffitt, a 23-year-old Boyes Hot Springs resident, uncovered 3.2 oz of marijuana in a Ziploc bag. Both Moffitt and his companion Molly Perry, a 21-year-old Eldridge resident, were booked into Sonoma County Jail for misdemeanor warrants. Police have requested the district attorney’s office file felony charges against Moffitt for possession of marijuana.

Thursday, Nov. 10

Violation of Probation: Police found Christopher Collins sitting in the Sonoma Plaza drinking a 24 oz ‘Natty Datty’ beer out of a paper bag. Collins is on probation in seven different cases, with clauses not to drink or possess alcohol. He was charged with violating his probation and was booked into Sonoma County Jail.
