SWAT Team Responds to Man Allegedly Threatening to Harm Parents With Firearm

Sam Heyerly of Sonoma was arrested in El Verano Saturday night.

The SWAT Team responded to a report of a 28-year-old allegedly threatening to harm his parents with a firearm around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 27.

The suspect, Sam Heyerly from Sonoma, was reportedly in a trailer located on Orange Avenue near Arnold Drive in El Verano, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department. Due to his prior criminal history with firearms and threats to law enforcement and because he was non-responsive to deputies on scene, the SWAT Team was called.

According to the department, "an armored vehicle was driven next to the trailer where Heyerly was reported to be and an announcement was made for him to come out. Heyerly came out of the trailer and was subsequently arrested without incident."

He was booked at the Sonoma County Jail for threats to commit a crime resulting in death or great bodily injury, resisting arrest and a no-bail violation of probation hold.
