UPDATE: Driver Killed in Single-Vehicle Highway Accident at Watmaugh

A man in his 30s was the only person killed in a crash outside of Sonoma this afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at 12:17 p.m. at State Highway 116 and Watmaugh Road, southwest of Sonoma city limits, 116 near the unincorporated community of Big Bend .

A late model Ford F-250 pickup truck was heading eastbound on
Highway 116 when it drifted off the roadway and struck a large eucalyptus
tree, CHP Sgt. William Bradshaw said.

The driver was ejected when the truck overturned, coming to rest
on its roof, Bradshaw said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no passengers or other vehicles involved.

The vehicle was registered out of Chico, Calif.; the crash remains under investigation by the CHP.
