Two Men in Critical Condition After Car Hits Tree

The accident closed a road in Santa Rosa for nine hours on Saturday.

Two Sonoma County men who were seriously injured when their car crashed into a tree early Saturday morning are in critical condition at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital today, a police sergeant said Monday.

Cody Gene Williams, 20, of Sonoma, and Ramon Robert Aguilar, 19, of Santa Rosa, suffered life-threatening injuries when their 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass struck a tree on Northpoint Parkway in southwest Santa Rosa around 1:15 a.m., Sgt. Rich Celli said.

Celli said Williams was driving west on Northpoint Parkway toward Corporate Center Parkway when he turned around and headed east.

He then lost control of the car as it passed Kingfisher Way, and it struck a tree on the south side of Northpoint Parkway, Celli said.

Both men had to be extricated from the vehicle.

Witnesses said no other cars were involved in the collision, Celli said. The crash closed the road for approximately nine hours.

Investigators are focusing on speed, a mechanical defect in the vehicle and impairment as possible factors in the collision, Celli said.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Mike Mieger in the traffic bureau at (707) 543-3636.
