Two Victims Escape From Gang-Related Shooting Outside Santa Rosa Apartment Complex

Two victims managed to escape with lives during a gang-related shooting in Santa Rosa on Friday night, according to police.

At about 9:15 p.m. on Friday police were dispatched to the 500 block of Olive Street near U.S. Highway 101 and state Highway 12 after a resident called 911 to report that gunshots had been fired in the area, police said.

According to the initial police investigation, a group of five or six boys confronted two victims who were standing on the sidewalk in front of an apartment complex on Olive Street.

One of the suspects allegedly shouted gang challenges and then struck one of the victims with a blunt object, police said.

According to police, a second suspect drew a handgun and fired multiple shots at the victims.

The victims fled the area on foot in fear of their lives and neither victim was struck, police said.

One of the bullets hit an unoccupied vehicle parked on the street and another round hit a nearby fence, according to officers.

The suspects fled the area in a dark colored SUV and have not been located, police said.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information about the suspects is urged to contact the Santa Rosa Police Department's Gang Crimes Team at (707) 543-3670.
