Wanted Felon Spotted By Off-Duty Deputy At Windsor Home Depot

An alert off-duty Sonoma County sheriff's deputy helped lead authorities to a wanted felon in Windsor on Wednesday afternoon, a Windsor police sergeant said.

The felon, identified as 41-year-old George Minaidis of Santa Rosa, was wanted for multiple felony crimes by the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety, Sgt. Shawn Murphy said.

A sheriff's deputy off-duty was shopping at a Home Depot store at 6280 Hembree Lane where he saw Minaidis, according to Murphy.

The deputy contacted Windsor police who responded to the scene and observed Minaidis as he exited the store and reentered the business to return items before going back in his car, Murphy said.

Minaidis met up with another vehicle filled with other people, he said.

As deputies with Windsor police approached both cars, Minaidis fled from the parking lot onto Hembree Lane at high speeds, according to Murphy.

Deputies chased him more than a mile to Cornell Street where Minaidis stopped his car and surrendered, he said.

Minaidis was arrested and released to the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety on suspicion of burglary, possession and usage of stolen credit cards, possession of stolen property and committing a felony while out on bail.
