Wednesday in Sonoma Valley Keeps the Cops Busy

Lots of cop action on Wednesday night, especially in the Springs. What was that police car racing up Hwy. 12 at 9:45 p.m. all about?

Sonoma Police and their brethren at the Sonoma Sheriff’s Office were kept busy yesterday, keeping a lid on festive filmgoers and quelling the usual suspects.

In Sonoma at 11:13 a.m., Steve T. Mezzanatto, 54, of Glen Ellen, was arrested at 435 First St. W., and booked on two felony charges, one for petty theft with a prior, and one for receiving known stolen property. A misdemeanor petty theft charge (shoplifting) was added, all of which landed him in County Jail.

At 7:10 p.m., Edward W. Westphal Jr. of Boyes Hot Springs, 48, was arrested in the Sonoma Plaza for public intoxication, a misdemeanor.
