The agenda for Monday night's regular meeting of the is set, as follows.
The meeting will be called to order at 5, then adjourn to private session. The regular public session will begin at 6 pm, in the Community Meeting Room adjacent to the Sonoma Police Station.
Discussion is might become lively over several items on the agenda, whose regular calendar items list:
First steps in a considering a draft ordinance for a countywide Single Use Carryout Bag Ban being considered by the Sonoma County Waste Management Agency (SCWMA). Several California counties, including Marin, Alameda and Santa Clara, have adopted similar rules. Last year the ban drew support from all but two of the county's nine cities, including Sonoma, and a series of public meetings this spring were held to cultivate input.
Also on the agenda are two proposals from Mayor Joanne Sanders, one to consider a new dog park in town, the other to discuss formation of a City Donation and Sponsorship Program, similar to that of the City of American Canyon.
The dog park would be located in city-owned property at Fifth Street West and West MacArthur Street. Sonoma Valley Dog Owners and Guardians (SVDOG) has been approached for discussion, and members are expected to be on hand at the City Council meeting.
Also on the agenda is a possible City Council appointment to the Sonoma Tourism Improvement District Corporation Board of Directors.
