Caltrans begins a month-long overhaul of a five-mile stretch of Hwy. 121 south of Sonoma Monday night, reducing the road to one-way traffic from the Sonoma Creek Bridge to the Napa County line, agency officials said.
Work on the project, which involves repairing the road, removing parts of it and repaving the entire stretch, runs from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. each weekday to avoid major impact on traffic flow, according to Caltrans. One-way traffic control will be in effect for the duration of the project during work hours.
Caltrans officials noted that residents in the area may have to deal with extra noise during the project, and urged drivers to proceed cautiously through the construction zone.
