Dog Lovers to Turn Out in Force as City Council Tackles Ban in Montini Preserve

How should the council vote on this issue?

A longstanding issue for Sonoma Valley dog lovers gets another turn in the spotlight Monday night as the Sonoma City Council considers seeking an amendment to the transfer agreement of the 98-acre Montini Preserve that would lift the preserve's prohibition on dogs.

City staff is recommending that the preserve, which is set to open in spring 2014, not become home to a dog park north of the Sonoma's Field of Dreams as some have sought but that dogs be allowed, on a leash, on a 1.8-mile trail that has been created on the preserve.
