Second Community Workshop on Old Fire Station

The Sonoma Community Development Agency (or CDA, the City's redevelopment agency), will sponsor a second community workshop on the redevelopment of the 32 Patten Street property on Saturday, November 5, 2011 from 10 a.m. – noon.  The workshop will be conducted by Foothill Partners, the developer selected to prepare a proposal for the site and will be held at the old station building at 32 Patten Street.  According to City Manager Linda Kelly, the goal of the second workshop “is to follow up on the first session, with a specific focus on potential design alternatives for the redevelopment of 32 Patten Street.  Foothill Partners will have their Architect Brian Williams present to free-hand draw and visually record the community's thoughts on schematics and design proposals that emerge at the meeting.”

A workbook containing background information on the property and proposed development has been prepared and is available on the City’s website at the following link:  http://www.sonomacity.org/default.aspx?Pageid=455

In anticipation of this follow-up workshop, Doug Wiele of Foothill Partners stated "Our October 8th community meeting was intense, and regarded in the press as negative, but I saw it as positive, an invaluable dialogue in setting community standards for the property's development.  I have similar expectations for our upcoming follow up meeting on November 5th, that we will start to focus in on design alternatives and that we'll start to build consensus.  I'm looking forward to it."
