Green Party Candidate Jill Stein to Speak at SSU Tuesday

Wants to end corporate personhood, reduce military spending and generate jobs by investing in companies producing alternative energy

Officially, the United States has a two-party political system.

But the Green Party candidate, Jill Stein, is turning heads around the country with her Green New Deal, that aims to create new jobs by investing in the alternative energy sector.

The 62-year-old physician, who will visit the Sonoma State University Tuesday, has vowed to regulate Wall Street, stop all government-funded construction of fossil fuel-dependent projects and end taxpayer-funded bailouts for banks, insurers, and other financial companies.

Her four-point platform includes revoking corporate personhood, reducing student debt, breaking up banks deemed “too big to fail” and reducing military spending by 30 percent.

Stein placed third in the 2002 race for governor of Massachusetts.

She will speak at the Evert B. Person Theater at Sonoma State University, 1801 East Cotati Ave. Starts at 1pm.
