Goodbyes For Sonoma Mayor, City Manager at Monday's City Council Meeting

Cake and punch as Joanne Sanders and Linda Kelly depart Sonoma city government. Ken Brown's rotation into Mayor will be subject to a vote. New council members will be installed.

It will be the changing of the guard—along with cake and punch— at Monday night's city council meeting. The council, staff and public are expected to come together to acknowledge the work of outgoing mayor Joanne Sanders, city manager Linda Kelly and Public Works Director Milenka Bates. The council will take a vote about whether to ratify Mayor Pro Tem Ken Brown as mayor. City councilmember-elect David Cook will be sworn in. Laurie Gallian, who was formerly appointed to the council will take her seat as an elected official.

Kelly will leave to take on the position of town manager in Windsor. There will be a vote to ratify the selection of Carol Giovanatto to take her place. Giovanatto has been with the city for 11 years.

Also leaving the city is Public Works Director Milenka Bates. She’ll wrap up her post on Dec. 7 and move on to become administrative division manager for public works for the City of Bremerton, Wash.
