Late Night City Council Meeting Continued to Tuesday

The last items from the Agenda will be decided at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday.

You'll have to wait until Tuesday evening for a full update of Sonoma City Council decisions.

A marathon meeting Monday evening ended, finally, after the Sonoma City Council decided to delay final decision on two agenda items until a short Tuesday evening meeting.

The delayed decision making process would allow the council more time to consult on Community Development Agency issues, which were fast-tracked to Monday's agenda on news of the state budget's immanent passing later this week, and the chance to review the issues with a clear mind - or at least a clearer mind than the Council could muster at Monday's meeting, which stretched past midnight.

"This is two hours past my bedtime," said Councilman Ken Brown.

The two delayed agenda items are 7D, in which the City would take on a historic preservation easement between the Sonoma Community Center, and item 7E, which involves the transfer of several properties from the Sonoma Community Development Agency, which oversees redevelopment activities, to the City of Sonoma.

Not to say that the Council didn't accomplish a lot during the six hour meeting: the Council decided to take over the Montini Preserve (conditionally at least), denied bike-path naysayers the right to contest the approved project, passed some business-friendly amendments to the sign ordinance and debated the merits of contracting and allocating redevelopment money just days before state officials say the Governor's plan to end redevelopment agencies will pass along with the state budget.

The Council will meet from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, at the Community Meeting Room at the .
