SFO Delays up to 2 or 3 Hours on Saturday

Rain is expected back in San Francisco at about 1 a.m. Sunday.

Flight schedules out of San Francisco Airport (SFO) improved slightly on Saturday, after many delays on Sunday due to rain. Delays for some flights were averaging about 55 minutes, with some wait periods up to three hours.

"We're running on about 35 percent arrival on time and 44 percent departure on time," Airport Duty Manager Larry Mares told Patch at 5:50 p.m. Saturday. The longest delays by then were at about two hours, he said.

"The rain has moved out of San Francisco and is expected back at about 1 a.m.," he said. "We'll reassess then when we get updated information."

Storms in the Midwest and East Coast are contributing to problems with some flights. Travelers are advised to contact their airlines first before heading to the airport.
