Kenwood Investments to pay a living wage to employees...we should hope so!

Kenwood Investments has agreed to pay a living wage to its hotel employees, should the project go forward. In doing so, they secured the endorsement of the North Bay Labor Council. Paying a living wage is a good thing to do, the right thing to do. All hotels should pay a living wage, existing or new. If the choice to pay a living wage had been announced when Kenwood Investments first announced their hotel proposal, well before Preserving Sonoma was created, it would seem less like a strategy to simply increase public acceptance of their over-sized project. While we applaud any Sonoma business paying a living wage, the decision does not alter our objection to the number of rooms proposed for the Kenwood Investments project. Should they wisely decide to build a 25-room hotel, we would hope a living wage would be paid as well.
