The summer drew to a close for valley students Wednesday, as students in the headed back to school. Greeted by morning fog and clouds, over 3,000 Sonoma youths woke up early for the first time in months and made their way to school.
Amidst morning confusion of where to go and who to ask, administrators, teachers, yard duties, secretaries, counselors and cross guards all greeted students back for another nine months of learning.
"I'm extra excited to be back and meet all my new students. It's been the most relaxed beginning ever!" said Teacher Paula Lely, who had taught at the school for 26 years. "We had fun getting to know each other."
By noon, the sun was out, and the first session of school was in full swing.
