How is your emergency plan? Does it take into account your family pets? How about your computer? I didn't think so. Most of us are prepared somewhat for a natural or man made disaster, but there are some things that might not have occurred to us.

You probably have pets but no plan in place to handle the pets when an emergency arises. You should have pet carriers for your small pets in case you have to leave home. You also need to have food stored for your pets along with your emergency supplies. If you have large dogs, you need to keep their leash by the door and an extra one by emergency exit areas.Try to remain calm during an emergency. Your pets will sense if you're panicked or upset and may become that way also. This will make it harder to manage them or even get a hold of them to put them in a carrier or on a leash.
