Hit the Road, Jack, is Sunday Morning

No Ox Roast this year but goods times guaranteed for runners, walkers and picnickers at the Plaza

Celebrating an impressive 26-year history, this year’s Hit the Road Jack Wine and Cheese Country Run is set to get underway Sunday morning, June 2, at the historic Sonoma Plaza.

Both 10K (USATF certified) and the 2.2 mile courses start and finish at the north side of the historic Sonoma Plaza, where the California Bear Flag was first raised. The courses are flat and fast, running through town, winding through vineyards and one of the first winery properties in California.

Race-day check-in and registration will begin at 6:30 a.m., in the Sonoma Plaza. Hit the Road Jack has become well known for its outstanding refreshments and live music following the race.

An entire day of activities follows the Run at the Sonoma Plaza, including the second day of the Annual Art & Artisan Show. The traditional Ox Roast benefitting the Sonoma Community Center, has been cancelled this year, but they plan to bring it back next year in a new iteration. All proceeds of Hit the Road Jack directly benefit the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation.

This exciting event will once again benefit the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation (SVEF). For 19 years, the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation’s mission has been to inspire, educate and prepare each student in Sonoma for a successful future. Thanks to community donations, they’ve been able to raise more than $4 million over the years, used to fund much-needed public school enhancement.
