Sonoma Valley Historical Society

Incorporated in 1937, and informally meeting long before that, the Sonoma Valley Historical Society aims to "collect, preserve and disseminate the historical heritage of the 'Valley of the Moon'" (a well-known title this flourishing valley also goes by).  The main activity of the society is running the Depot Park Museum. It also meets around seven times a year, according to museum manager and society member Diane Smith, to hear speakers on local history, visit sites and discuss current research and other projects. Most members also volunteer as museum docents at Depot Park one or two days per month.
