Police Make Quick Work of Three Sonoma Holdup Suspects

Three suspects were arrested a half hour after a woman was held up at gunpoint outside a Sonoma Lucky's store early this morning.

Three men suspected of holding up a woman at gunpoint at a Sonoma Lucky store early this morning were arrested in Napa County, authorities said.

Sonoma police responding to a report of a masked gunman holding up a woman walking out of the Sonoma Lucky's store broadcast the description of a truck used in the robbery to surrounding agencies, police Sgt. Dave Thompson said.

The woman, who was ordered by the gunman to surrender her purse during the 4 a.m. incident, gave him her lunch bag

American Canyon Police and the Napa County Sheriff's Office contacted authorities in Sonoma after pulling over a matching vehicle at about 4:30 a.m. in Napa County (near the Chardonnay Golf Club on Jameson Canyon Road).

The three men inside the vehicle detained by Napa County authorities were found to be in possession of two replica Smith & Wesson BB pistols, a black ski mask and the woman's lunch bag.

The driver was positively identified as the primary suspect in the robbery.

The driver, Mark Padilla (20) of Turlock, was arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of stolen property.

The passengers, Edgar Gonzalez and Jesus Vazquez, both 19 of Turlock, were arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property.

All three were booked at the Sonoma County Jail.
